Psalm 28

I can't express how stoked I am to be pregnant again. I hate feeling sick, but I love knowing that a little life is starting in my womb. People ask me how I'm feeling and express that they'll be praying for us. I find myself telling them I feel confident, and the most prepared that we have been with our previous pregnancies. While this is true (my doctor is considering me "high risk" and performing early ultrasounds, checking my hormone level in my blood), the real source of confidence comes from Christ alone. I sense a promise from him, a promise I heard in the car during our last miscarriage. I wrote of it back in August, driving in the rain and spotting a rainbow I heard what I believe to be God comforting me with a promise: I will be good to you. He did not say "You will have many healthy children who will bless you." Of course, that's what I want to hear, but He said He will be good. And that promise is far greater to me than a promise of children. My confidence is not that this pregnancy will be successful or easy or perfect in anyway, but I am confident that His grace is sufficient and He will provide me with the strength and hope I need no matter what the outcome. Our God is good, and His mercies endure forever.

Psalm 28
What are the promises of God according to this passage?
My strength and my shield, my helper, my saving refuge, my shepherd. My God is my strength. What does this mean? Ephesians 6:10 says to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Not my might, His might. Ephesians continues to describe tools God gives to His people for battle. He does not make life easier, but He gives what we need when we need it. My God is my shield. The same passage in Ephesians states we pick up the shield of faith. God gives us faith, and we use it in defense against the enemy. This is a shield I am to share, not hoard. By sharing God's word I share faith in Him and His shield of faith. My God is my helper. Psalm says "In Him my heart trusts, and I am helped." I have been an accuser of God, and when I sit back and choose to trust God with all my heart and set my selfish desires aside, I am helped to see Truth and know God. He does not always help us to get what we want, but He helps us to get what He wants, and that is always more valuable. My God is my saving refuge. Whom can I fear? He is Life! He determines who will rise and who will fall. I can rest in Him as Moses tells Benjamin: "The beloved of the Lord dwells in safety. The High God surrounds him all day long, and dwells between his shoulders." He is with me always. He will never leave me or forsake me. My God is my shepherd. He leads me and guides me through His word and with His spirit. Our God is good, and His mercy endures forever.
